After meeting with PM Modi, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said, “Google to invest 10 billion in India’s digitisation”

Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said on Friday that Google is spending USD 10 billion in India’s digitisation fund and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal for Digital India serves as a model for other nations after meeting with him in Washington, DC.

It was a pleasure to meet PM Modi on his historic tour to the US, Pichai stated after their meeting. We informed the Prime Minister about Google’s USD $10 billion investment in India’s digitization fund. Pichai said, “We are excited today that we are announcing the opening up of our global fintech operation centre in GIFT city Gujarat.”

In the Gandhinagar district of Gujarat, India, there is a notable central business district being built called Gujarat International Finance Tec-City.

After meeting Prime Minister Modi, Google CEO Sundar Pichai remarked, “PM’s vision for Digital India was way ahead of his time. I now see it as a blueprint that other countries are looking to do.”

Pichai joined Google in 2004 and was appointed CEO in 2015. He had received congratulations from PM Modi on being named CEO.

In December of last year, Sundar Pichai visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and praised him for accelerating technological transformation. Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, expressed his eagerness to maintain solid alliances and support India’s G20 leadership in order to create an open internet that benefits everyone.

Pichai attended the 8th edition of the Google for India event when he was in India last year, along with Ashwini Vaishnaw, the minister of railways, communications, and electronics and information technology.

According to the Google CEO, he is in India to see the results of our USD 10 billion, 10-year India Digitization Fund (IDF) and to offer new strategies for advancing India’s digital future.

In order to help people access knowledge and information in their preferred language, we are working to create a single, unified AI model that can handle over 100 Indian languages across speech and text. This is a part of our global initiative to bring the 1,000 most-spoken languages online. Along with IIT Madras, we’re funding a brand-new, interdisciplinary institute for ethical AI, according to Pichai.

Notably, Project Relate is an app that can comprehend non-binary communication from speakers. The app is accessible to Hindi users in early 2023 and has the ability to listen, repeat, and comprehend.

For those who want it, search results pages in India will be multilingual; the functionality is currently present in Hindi. Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, and Bengali language support for this function will be added soon. Hinglish speakers may now be understood better by voice search. using a novel neural network model that takes into consideration the user’s accent, situation, etc.,” he noted.

In Washington, DC, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google and Alphabet, Andrew Jassy, the CEO of Amazon, and David L. Calhoun, the CEO of Boeing. Modi is now on a State visit to the US.

In an exclusive interview with ANI, Boeing CEO David L. Calhoun said, “The most significant lesson is the PM’s desire for India’s growth. He does have a particular interest in aircraft and aviation. The vision is expansive.

He emphasised the significance of India’s contribution to aviation and aerospace, both for the nation and the region at large.

In contrast, after a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Washington, DC, Amazon CEO Andrew Jassy pledged to create more jobs in India.

Jassy expressed her desire to support efforts to increase the number of employment created, the number of small and medium-sized enterprises that are digitalized, and the number of Indian firms and goods that may be sold internationally.
