After the first Test, Josh Inglis will return home, while Jimmy Peirson has been brought to the Australian team as a backup

Jimmy Peirson, a wicketkeeper, has been added to Australia's lineup for the Ashes match against England on Friday as a replacement for Josh Inglis, who will return home after the first Test to give birth to his first child.
Prior to the second Test beginning on June 28 at Lord's, the Queensland gloveman will meet the squad in London. After the second Test, Inglis will fly back to Perth.
Inglis, Alex Carey's backup wicketkeeper, will re-join the team at a later time, according to Cricket Australia. “Peirson has trained with the squad in the past and was part of a Brisbane mini camp last week,” they said.
With his wicketkeeping, aggressive batting, and leadership as the captain of Queensland and Brisbane Heat, Peirson has made an impression at the domestic and Australia A levels.
On June 16, the opening Test of the five-game series gets underway at Edgbaston. Prior to it, on June 7, Australia will play India in the World Test Championship final at The Oval.
